Mother’s Day is just around the corner on Sunday, May 12 2024! And while everyone will celebrate Mother’s Day differently, every mom loves a simple token of appreciation. May that be one of the many Mother’s Day crafts out there, or just a sweet card from her kids. Every mom deserves to be celebrated!
I do enjoy doing crafts with my kids, and my kids are obsessed with doing crafts too. However, sometimes you just want something simple, with no preparation required to keep your kids occupied. And with Mother’s Day approaching I had these grand ideas of Mother’s Day crafts we were going to do together to send to grandmas. Then life happened, and I never got around to completing our Mother’s Day crafts…
On the other hand, I still wanted to give my kids something to send to their grandmas (and my oldest has been begging to do a craft the last few days…). As a result, I thought making cards would be a great plan. Even better, what if they were pre-made so all we had to do was print, color, and mail them?
Super Simple Mother’s Day Crafts For Kids
As I said above, I had good intentions to do some sweet Mother’s Day crafts with my kids this year. But the truth is, I have just been tired and burnt out lately, which has really affected my motivation for pretty much everything. (Waiting for that second trimester energy to show up… Ope! Surprise, baby number four is on the way!)
So if you’re anything like me, in need of some low energy and no prep kid activities… these DIY Mother’s Day cards make a great activity, and double as a sweet gift for grandmas, aunts, and so on!
On the other hand, if you’re a dad looking for some Mother’s Day crafts for your kids to make for their mom, these are still a great option! I know I love when my kids make things for me!
Make Mother’s Day Special
Now I realize that Mother’s Day doesn’t look the same for everyone. Some people love a big celebration, while others may just enjoy some quiet alone time. And while you may celebrate differently, I can guarantee you that all Moms just want to be noticed and appreciated for all they do.
Sometimes being a mom can feel lonely, mundane, and thankless. In fact, often times it feels like we have the weight of the entire world on our shoulders, and no one even notices.
Let me assure you, that I notice. Sure, I may not be able to physically see you, but I know that you do so much for your family. I know that you are so tired. And I know that you are doing your best for your family by showing up every day. Even when you don’t want to.
Free Printable Mother’s Day Cards
When I set out to make these printable Mother’s Day cards, I wanted to keep them simple. I wanted my kids to be able to be as creative as they wanted with them. On the other hand, I also wanted them to be simple enough for even my youngest to color. (Sometimes I think that the overly detailed coloring pages can be overwhelming for younger kids.)
Mother’s Day Crafts: Colorable Cards
1. I thought this was cute. But the longer I looked at it, it was giving chicken nugget and French fry vibes. Perfect for your yellow arch loving kid (or mom! ha!)
2. This one is a great option for a little bit of an older artist who want’s a little extra to color. Additionally, this bouquet of flowers is really low maintenance!
3. A little backstory here: My husband does not understand the sadness that comes with the name change. You start with a little baby muttering Ma-Ma. As they become toddlers they start to call you Mommy. And eventually as they get older you’re just Mom. It’s definitely a bittersweet feeling, but sometimes you just miss those little “mama”s.
4. This is simple, but I think it is so sweet! Not too much going on, but a lot of creative potential!
5. My kiddos love Koalas, and how sweet is this baby koala hugging her mama?
6. Because moms are real life super heroes! You may not be able to fly or swing from the walls, but you are MIGHTY!
7. Many moms worry if they are doing enough, or beat themselves up when they make a mistake. If this is you, remember that in your child’s eyes you are perfect. You are amazing!
8. Another one for the animal lovers! I thought this would be a sweet one to send to a grandma or aunt too.
9. This one was inspired by my Dino loving kiddo!
10. Finally, similar to the options above, this is another one that I kept generic. That way we could include grandmas and aunts too. (There are so many different grandma names out there. My oldest started calling my mom”Bebe” and the name just stuck!)
