Fun Family Brunch Ideas For The Weekend
Weekends are the perfect time to have some family fun time. And honestly, you already have to feed the family, why not make it a fun meal while you’re at it? One of the reasons I love brunch is because it covers two meals at once. And by the time you’ve reached the weekend, you deserve a little bit of a reprieve from making three meals a day. (Not to mention the fifty mini meals in between, am I right?)
First, let the kids help set the table up extra nice with flowers, fancy glasses, a table cloth… whatever you want. Put the kids in charge of the table and see what the come up with! Remember, it doesn’t have to be picture perfect.
Second, choose your meal. Do you want to make a create your own style meal? Sweet and savory? Traditional breakfast? Or maybe branch out and try something totally new? There are so many options and possibilities! And part of the fun of doing brunch at home is that you can make it exactly the way you want to!

Start the Weekend Off With Family Brunch
Brunch with the family will be a super fun way to kick off the weekend. As I said before, you already have to make breakfast, why not kill two birds with one stone and make it an extra special treat?
Bonus tip: If you have a lot of leftovers, leave things out on the table and just let everyone graze on the leftovers throughout the day. That being said, I love doing this because it keeps the kids from begging me for snacks every ten minutes.
First and foremost, allow yourself to start the morning off lazy! When the kids wake up, bring them into bed with you for some morning snuggles, hang out in your jammies, drink a hot cup of coffee, and don’t feel like you have to jump right into chores in the morning.
Finally, when you are ready to start making brunch enlist some help! It can be fun to cook with your partner and kids. As a matter of fact, kids love to help in the kitchen. However, if the thought of letting them join you freaks you out, stress not! Check out my post here on how to cook with kids without losing your mind.
Brunch Is Over… Now What?
On the condition that your kids like to help around the house, let them help you get cleaned up. Have them bring dishes to the sink, or put leftovers in containers for you. Don’t feel like you have to do everything by yourself. In short, allow yourself some help!
Pro tip: I know that letting kids help can feel like you’re just creating more work for yourself. However, the key to making kid’s help successful is to give them tasks that they can do with little to no help. Additionally, don’t micromanage them! Just because they don’t do it exactly the way you would do it, doesn’t mean that it’s wrong. On the other hand, if they make a mess simply teach them how to clean it up. Honestly, I could go on and on about this. The point is, learn to let go! In fact, learning to let go is going to be one of your most helpful skills in motherhood.
Additionally, if you want to keep the fun going play a game together, do a craft, color a picture, or go for a walk. Give yourself permission to have a slow day without any obligations.
