As much as they are appreciated, teachers can only keep so many mugs, keychains, lotions, etc. These are 5 teacher appreciation week ideas for gifts that your child’s teacher can use and will really love. Not to mention, you may be surprised to find how simple and low cost they can be.
Simple Teacher Appreciation Week Ideas
As I said before, teacher gifts don’t have to require a lot of money or time. These are 5 simple teacher gifts that can be useful and that your teacher will love to recieve.
1. Gift Cards
I don’t know a single teacher that doesn’t love a gift card. Teachers spend so much of their own money on their classrooms that a gift card can be a huge blessing to them.
Types of gift cards teachers may love:
- Coffee Shop
- Other Drink Stop – Smoothies, tea, soda, etc.
- Favorite Lunch Spot- A sub shop would be a great idea!
- Target or Walmart
- Gas Station
I know that sometimes giving a gift card doesn’t feel like an exciting gift to give. Especially when there are so many cute teacher gift ideas out there. So, if you’re hesitant to give a gift card for this reason, try jazzing it up a little with a some little extras.
A few ideas to jazz up gifting a gift card:
- Add gift cards to this adorable flower craft your kids can make
- Add gift cards to a mix of their favorite candy
- Put a coffee shop gift card in a travel mug with chocolate covered coffee beans
- Add a gift card to a plant or bouquet of flowers
- Attach a gift card to a bunch of school supplies for the classroom
2. Avryn Co. Wristlet
I have mentioned Avryn Co before in my Mother’s Day Gift Guide. And honestly, they make an awesome teacher gift too! We have gifted teachers an Avryn Co. wristlet in the past, and they were a huge hit! Being able to loop your keys on your wrist is a huge help. Teachers frequently have their hands full, and have a lot on their mind. Something as simple as keeping keys easily accessible can be a big relief.
One thing that sets Avryn Co.’s wristlet apart from others is that they are not a set size. Something that I personally really love about them. (And I have tried several different kinds of wristlets. These truly are the best out there!) This allows you to be able to move the wristlet up your arm when you’re using the restroom or washing your hands, etc.
Not only are they really handy, these wristlets are handmade, and gorgeous! They have several different leather and color options, as well as the option to personalize with initials, names, and so on.
Additionally, if you want to add a little something extra to your wristlet, I suggest a chapstick holder that can clip on to the wristlet. I carry one on mine and love having it so accessible!
3. Homemade Treats
Everyone loves a homemade treat, and teachers are no exception. Even better than just any homemade treat, get your child involved! Your child will be even more excited to give their teacher something they helped make, and their teacher will love knowing that their student had a part in making something special just for them. However, if letting your child bake with you in the kitchen freaks you out, check out my post on cooking with kids here!
A few ideas for things to make for your teachers:
- Cookies – Chocolate chip, sugar, oatmeal, snickerdoodle, peanut butter, monster, cake batter… the possibilities are endless!
- Brownies
- Cupcakes to share in the teacher’s lounge. Alternatively, one large cupcake per teacher. (This way your teacher doesn’t have to try and eat a dozen cupcakes on their own! haha!)
- Muffins – Wild berry, blueberry, chocolate chip, coffeecake, etc.
- Cinnamon Rolls
- Bread – If you enjoy making homemade bread, a fresh loaf of bread would be a real treat!
- Banana Bread
- Cheesecake – Try out my cheesecake recipe for beginners!
Tip: Make sure your teacher doesn’t have any allergies beforehand. That way you don’t accidentally gift them something they can’t have.
4. A Sweet Letter From the Heart
Here’s the thing, this may not seem like much but I assure you that it will mean the world to your teachers. I can imagine that being a teacher has many emotional ups and downs. Similarly to motherhood, I am sure that many teachers spend too much time thinking about what they could have done differently, or wondering if they are doing a good job.
Receiving a heartfelt letter from one of their students, or even a parent can really go a long way for tired, overworked teachers. So, let them know just how appreciated they are with kind words that they can read again when they may be feeling discouraged.
5. Something Your Child Picks For Them
Surprisingly, teachers would love to receive something from your child that shows that they really know their teacher. As well as something that shows your child’s personality. Sometimes I know it can be hard to let go of our own ideas and let kids take over, but this has the potential to be really fun and sweet.
For example, my daughter sees something at the store that makes her think of her teacher and she always asks me if she can buy it for her. Sometimes said item gets an eyebrow raise from me, but it is so sweet to see that she is thinking of her teacher.
In conclusion, you never know what your child may want to choose for their teacher. Let them take the reins and see what they choose to thank their teacher with. And if you want to add an extra little something, a gift card is always a great idea!
